Program Note:

• Brass Quintet is a programmatic piece as it tells of a hero who dreams of rescuing a maiden from a monster. The theme for the hero opens the piece while the tranquil slow section features the theme for the maiden. The turbulent development section is the battle with the monster as the two themes are woven together amidst clashing rhythms and harmonies. Eventually, the hero is triumphant and rescues the maiden only to wake up and discover that all that had just transpired was but a dream.
