Program Note:

• Unabashed Rush is an unceasing, fervently happy, and brilliant overture in which two themes, one angular and the other lyrical, are constantly developed and recontextualized. The initial fanfare in the brass is also developed alongside the two other themes, often interrupting and playing with them. The piece recounts a bustling, joyful day at the Champlain Valley Fair in Essex Junction, Vermont, where I spent many a summer day in my childhood.
